Monday Musings…here’s a few things on my mind.
*It’s crazy stupid hot in my neck of the woods today. There are elementary schools near us dismissing early because of the heat. And I hate it. Hate.It.
*I have spent my morning with a cup (or three or four) of coffee, a can of spray paint, and a gallon of primer. THAT is a wonderful morning in my book. 🙂 I’m working on revamping my pantry, and I cannot wait to show you! It’s a project that’s taking MUCH longer than anticipated, but I think the end result will be well worth the wait.
*If you read my blog last week, you know that Jayda was really struggling with school. I didn’t go into all the details, but suffice it to say that she is struggling a lot with anxiety. Her anxiousness displays itself in ways that often worry my momma heart. My mother-in-law graciously bought this sign for Jayda over the weekend, and Jayda and I decided to hang it right next to the back door, where she will see it each morning on her way to school. I was ecstatic this morning when she glanced at the sign, took a deep breath, and walked out the door to school with no tears! That’s a huge success around here this morning, and I’m so thankful! Thankful for God’s Word, thankful for His working in her young heart, and thankful for my mother-in-law who helped plant that truth in her heart with this gift. Thank you, Janelle!
*Want to hear about a very weird allergy in our family? One that nobody believes about, until they have seen it first-hand? Jayda, my eight year old, is allergic to whole apples and cherries. She can eat them sliced, but each and every time she eats an apple whole, or chews on a cherry to remove the pit, she breaks out in hives around her mouth. Serious. Every now and again we try a whole apple with her to see what will happen, and we did that again this weekend. Immediately after eating it, she had itchy hives on her mouth, and this time the irritation spread, causing it to bleed and scab. I’ve told her doctor, who looked at me like I’d fallen off my rocker. My family thought I was a bit cooky until they saw it actually happen. Has anyone else ever heard of anything like this?! I guess for now we’ll just continue to cut up her fruit? Weird!
*My amazing husband gave me some time away yesterday. I chose a cozy table at Panera, ordered an apple chicken salad (yum!), and started pouring over the library’s copy of Julia Child’s infamous cookbook, “Mastering the Art of French Cooking.” Making it only through the introduction and first chapter, I’d already jotted down three pages of notes! Many of you know how much I love to search for a treasure at thrift stores, garage sales, ect. I’m on the lookout for a copy of that cookbook, as well as the second volume. So, any of you fellow thrifters out there…if you happen to find anything Julia Child related for a good price, buy it and I’ll pay you back. And, I’ll be ever so grateful! 🙂
Happy Monday to you all! Have a wonderful start to your week, and I hope to blog again soon. I’ve got lots of ideas rolling around in my head, and I can’t wait to share some of them with you. Blessings!
